Join Our Friends Membership

Join Bird Conservancy of the Rockies as a supporter at the Friend level ($500 or more in total giving in a year) and help us conserve birds and their habitats. Giving an annual gift at this level is a significant way to show your support for environmental education, land conservation and our feathered friends. Plus, you become a part of a vibrant community that cares about the health of our natural world.

Planned Giving/ Estate and Wills

Bird Conservancy of the Rockies recognizes those donors who have committed to a planned gift by including them in our Golden Eagle Society. Members of the Golden Eagle Society receive: the new Primary Source magazine, recognition in our annual report, invitations to special small group birding field trips, early access to events and travel opportunities and regular updates about our work.

Have you included Bird Conservancy of the Rockies with a gift in your estate plan? If so, please let us know so we can welcome you as a member of the Golden Eagle Society. We would be honored to recognize your demonstration of faith in our mission and lasting legacy in support of bird conservation.

It’s easy to make a lasting contribution to bird and habitat conservation through a planned gift. To include Bird Conservancy in your will or estate plan, use language similar to the following (note that our legal name is Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory):

I give, devise, and bequeath the sum of $____ [or __ percent of my residual estate] to DBA Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (Federal tax ID number 84-1079882), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization located at P.O. Box 1232, Brighton, CO 80601, for its general use and purposes.

You can also name Bird Conservancy of the Rockies as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), pension or life insurance.

Contact your retirement account or life insurance administrator to add Bird Conservancy as a beneficiary.

Do you have a bit of extra “nest egg” that you’d like to put to good use for birds?

Making a gift of appreciated publicly traded securities is an easy and smart way to support Bird Conservancy of the Rockies! Not only will your gift be put to immediate use protecting birds and their habitats, you may see capital gains and income tax benefits. We encourage you to discuss this option with your tax advisor.

Are you 70 ½ or older? If so, you can give up to $100,000 per calendar year through your IRA. This is an incredibly effective way to minimize your tax obligations while supporting the mission of Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. Please consult your tax advisor before making an IRA distribution.

To make an IRA charitable distribution, contact your IRA custodian and ask them to send the check for a “qualified charitable distribution” to Bird Conservancy of the Rockies at 14500 Lark Bunting Lane, Brighton, CO 80603. Please ask your IRA custodian to include your name and address along with the donation.

Birds & Beans supports Bird Conservancy by donating a portion of Colorado regional sales as well as in-kind support of special events. Drinking shade-grown, bird-friendly coffee helps more than 42 species of North American migratory songbirds that winter in coffee plantations, including orioles, warblers and thrushes.

Wood Warbler coffee donates 10% of gross sales of their Canada Warbler Blend coffee back to conservation partners including Bird Conservancy of the Rockies.
