Restoration on Private Lands – Implementation, Biological Control Options, and Restoring for Birds

Join us on September 22nd from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM MDT for part two of this webinar series with extended Q&A geared towards restoration on private lands.

Presentations include:
1) Experiential Tips from the Field – Working Successfully with Private Land Owners – Shelly Simmons, Purgatoire Watershed Weed Management Collaborative
2) Managing Private Wetlands for Birds – Kelsea Holloway, Bird Conservancy/Natural Resource Conservation Service
3) Biological Control in Colorado – Nina Louden, USDA Palisade Insectary: The CDA Insectary, located in Palisade Colorado, provides and monitors biological controls on public and private lands for controlling further spread of invasive non-native pest species such as tamarisk, field bindweed, and Canada thistle. Our biocontrols include host-specific insects, mites, and even a fungus that damage invasive weeds throughout the state. Successful biocontrol implementation is a long-term solution for the management of invasive species when other tactics including mechanical removal or pesticide application have too steep an economic or environmental cost.
Each presentation will be 20 minutes, followed by up to an hour of interactive Q&A.
