We are hiring a Wildlife Habitat Biologist (biologist) to deliver habitat conservation projects on private lands in the grasslands of southeastern Montana. This position is a partnership between the US Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MTFWP), and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies. The Program Manager to support programmatic operations and cross-team coordination. Working closely with the Senior Program Manager, this position provides operational, financial, and administrative support to Team Leads—particularly the Stewardship Team— and serves as a liaison between program staff and organization-wide support teams (finance, development, communications, and technology). The Program Manager plays a key role in ensuring that grant-funded projects are implemented effectively, on schedule, and in compliance with funding requirements

Seasonal/Part-time Positions

Experience a season of adventure surveying for nocturnal owls on the Pike-San Isabel and Arapahoe-Roosevelt US National Forests near Castle Rock and Boulder, Colorado. All field work will be conducted with appropriate federal permits. Bird Conservancy of the Rockies is hiring one field technician that will travel within a small team to conduct Spotted Owl playback surveys. Technicians follow strict protocols of broadcasting calls and listening for responses, as per USFWS, adding to a monitoring dataset that informs presence of the raptor species within forest management areas.

Spend 1.5 months coordinating a monitoring project on the Arapahoe-Roosevelt and Pike San-Isabel National Forests in Colorado. All field work will be conducted with appropriate federal permits. Bird Conservancy of the Rockies is seeking 1 crew leader that will each steer another technician to conduct Spotted Owl surveys. This position will build leadership, management and mentorship skills while working on a charismatic federally-threatened species in Colorado. Successful candidates will have excellent inter-personal and organizational skills, will be passionate about working outdoors and comfortable working in the backcountry. The crew leader is responsible for the logistical planning of the field season and will coordinate their crews’ schedule, gear use, and data collection.

We are hiring a Stewardship Program Assistant to support the day to day administrative operations of the Stewardship Team. The Program Assistant attends regularly meetings note takes, coordinates meeting and travel logistics, and assists the Stewardship Director and Stewardship Program Managers in general administrative tasks to ensure overall programmatic success.

The seasonal technicians will participate in avian point count surveys and vegetation monitoring on properties owned and managed by the City of Fort Collins in Larimer County in an effort to monitor bird populations and guide management of Natural Areas and Open Spaces.

We are looking for one Bird Camp Instructor intern to help with our day and overnight camps. This role will run from May 21, 2026 through August 7, 2026 as a full-time position encompassing approximately 400 hours total through the 10 week term. We are seeking an experienced bird bander for a Spring migration banding station. The station is at Ash Hollow State Historical Park near Lewellen, NE. Position is approximately 5 weeks of banding; dates are April 21st – May 23rd. Primary duties are bird capture and banding, but also include: set-up and dismantling of banding stations, including clearing net lanes, erecting and maintaining nets, and proper storage of nets at the end of the banding season.
