SUMMARY:Lory State Park Bird Walk - Arthur's Rock
DESCRIPTION:This hike will encompass the Arthur’s Rock Trail which goes through forested and meadow habitats. We should see a variety of resident and breeding birds. This hike is a chance to hike one of Lory’s most scenic trails with a focus on its feathered features! Interact with and meet other local birders in the community and see what other summer beauty Lory has to offer. Bird Conservancy will provide binoculars to those who need them. Whether new to birding\, or a seasoned birder\, participants of all experience levels are welcome! \nClick here to register! \nMeeting Point: Arthur’s Rock trailhead at the Arthur’s Rock Trailhead Parking Please note\, a $10 Daily or Annual Colorado State Parks Pass is required for entry into the park at all times. The trail is a roughly 3.6 mile out and back trail with an ascent of 1\,182 ft. It is a moderately difficult trail. DESCRIPTION:The South Platte Birding Club will create community and celebrate the ecosystem of the South Platte River; the river that gives life to Barr Lake State Park. We will meet monthly\, choosing a unique birding location along the river each time. \nJune location: Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge \nTo foster a sense of community\, we will start each outing with food\, beverage\, and connection for participants. This Club is meant for birders of all levels; Bird Conservancy will provide mentorship to new birders but also encourage sharing of knowledge among all participants. Outings will vary from traditional bird walks to stationary birding\, depending on the interest and needs of participants. \nThese walks are free\, but registration is required. We will meet bi-weekly during the summer\, choosing a unique birding location along the river each time. \nTo foster a sense of community\, we will start each outing with food\, beverages\, and connection for participants. This Club is meant for birders of all levels; Bird Conservancy will provide mentorship to new birders and encourage the sharing of knowledge among all participants. DESCRIPTION:Westbound emigrants on the Oregon\, California & Mormon Trails eagerly anticipated encountering the unique wildlife of the American West – bison\, pronghorn antelope\, coyotes\, and many other species – including birds!
