SUMMARY:Family Nature Club
DESCRIPTION:Family Nature Club is designed for children and their grown-ups as an opportunity to spend time in nature\, regardless of the season\, to play interactive & engaging games together\, and to learn about Western Nebraska’s unique wildlife and landscape. Every month will feature a new nature topic. We hope to explore the natural wonders of western Nebraska with your family every month this year! \n-December 6th – Celebrate Winter Wildlife @ Christmas on the Prairie! Family Nature Club is intended for children and their grown-ups. Each family group will receive an Exploration Kit to use during the series to explore the natural world around them at home. Family Nature Club will be outside the entire time unless otherwise noted. Please dress comfortably for the weather and bring snacks/water as needed. \nFamily Nature Clubs are held at the Scotts Bluff National Monument\, 190276 Old Oregon Trail\, Gering\, NE 69341. \nFor more information (308) 633-1013. SUMMARY:Barr Lake Christmas Bird Count
DESCRIPTION:Once a year\, each winter\, dozens of volunteers congregate at Barr Lake State Park to dedicate their day to a singular purpose: tally every bird of every species seen within a 15-mile diameter circle centered on Barr Lake. This tradition has been taking place every year since 1980 at Barr Lake. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Barr Lake Count will take place on December 28th\, 2025. Please contact Colin Woolley to register at colin.woolley@birdconservancy.org. This count circle contains a mix of walking and driving routes and accepts participants of all experience levels.
